Former Sun Devil Blair O'Neal to compete on Golf Channel Big Break
Former Sun Devil women's golfer Blair O'Neal will get a second chance to make Big Break history when the popular Golf Channel series returns for its 14th season later this month.
Premiering Sept. 29 at 9 p.m. ET, Big Break Dominican Republic will feature an all-star cast comprised of the most captivating and polarizing personalities in the series' history, who will compete for a second chance to put their golf careers on the fast track and to settle unfinished business.
Prior to her appearance on Big Break Prince Edward Island, O'Neal, 29, was better known for her modeling career than her golf game. She also was in the middle of an extended leave from golf. She finished runner-up on the series, and the golf world took notice. Since then, she has hosted shows for Golf Channel, including InFuze My Game on GolfChannel.com and the premiere episode of Donald J. Trump's Fabulous World of Golf. Now, she is back to playing full time on the Cactus Tour. She is more focused than ever and has some unfinished business on Big Break Dominican Republic.
Q: Before Big Break Prince Edward Island, your goal to get on the LPGA Tour seemed so far away. Did you ever think of giving up completely?
A: I never gave up on the idea of playing on the LPGA. I knew I would play golf again because competing is what I love to do. I didn’t know when or how that was going to happen. It was always there. I just didn’t know when the right time would be for me. I have just taken a different route.
Q: So now…
A: Now I feel like it’s time to make it happen. It is going to happen.
Q: Your intention on competing in Big Break PEI was to see if you had the desire to get back into competitive golf. What are your goals for Big Break Dominican Republic?
A: My goal here is to do something that I didn’t do back at PEI. That is to win. I mean, that was the one thing left for me to do.
