Five members of the Arizona State women's swimming and diving team will head to the NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships this week. Hosted by Purdue, the NCAA Championships will be held Mar. 18-20 at the Boilermaker Aquatics Center in West Lafayette, Ind. Diver Elina Eggers and swimmers Rebecca Ejdervik, Ashley Evans, Jordyn Green and Jamie Martinez will represent the Sun Devils.

Elite Elina
Eggers has already proven she is the top tower diver of her conference and zone and is now ready to compete to be the nation's best. An Olympic finalist in 2008 in the 10-meter platform, Egger outscored the Pac-10 competition by nearly 40 points. At the Zone E Championship, she won by almost 70 points. In addition to her success on the tower, she has developed into a strong springboard diver. Eggers placed second on the 3-meter at both the Pac-10 and Zone E Championships and also finished third on the 1-meter at the conference meet.

Pac-10 champ
Ejdervik became the eight Sun Devil woman swimmer to earn a Pac-10 individual title. She clocked in at 1:00.06 to capture the 100 breast title and become ASU's first individual champion since Caitlin Andrew won the 100 fly in 2005. Ejdervik is now third on ASU's all-time list and is Dorsey Tierney-Walker's first Pac-10 individual champion. She is seeded seventh in the NCAA 100 breast field. She will also compete in the 200 breast.

The seniors
Evans and Martinez have qualified for the NCAA Championships for the first time in their career. Both seniors are the team's most versatile and will compete in a variety of events at the NCAA Championships. Evans is slated to compete in the 100 free, and the 200 IM. Martinez will make her NCAA Championship debut in the 100 back, the 200 back and the 200 IM.

The returnee
Despite being the youngest of the group, sophomore Green is the only Sun Devil to have competed in the NCAA Championships before. Last season, Green qualified as a freshman in both the 100 and 200 breast. She will be competing in both those events again this season with her higher seed being in the longer event.

Next up
Riley McCormick and Constantin Blaha will represent the men's team at the NCAA Championships next week.
