Baseball overwhelms Wildcats

A crowd of 4,033 saw the Sun Devils improve to 39-5 overall with the victory in the non-conference match-up.<separator></separator>Rodgers allowed just two hits and did not walk a batter while striking out seven to earn the win and improve to 3-2 on the season. He then scored on a sacrifice fly by Marrero, and <a href="http://thesundevils.cstv.com/sports/m-basebl/mtt/aplin_andrew00.html">A… Aplin</a> scored later in the inning on an error to make it 4-0.<separator></separator>ASU then took command in the sixth, scoring seven runs in the inning. Marrero had an RBI single, Aplin drove in a run with a groundout and Marrero then scored on a wild pitch to put the Sun Devils on top 7-0. MacPhee then had a two-run double, and Calhoun capped off the inning with a two-run homer to right center. It was his team-leading ninth home run of the season.<separator></separator>Barnes had a two-run single in the seventh to make the score 13-0, and Arizona scored its only run on an error by Swagerty in the ninth.<separator></separator>The Sun Devils now have the rest of the week off and then will return to action on May 10, when they begin a two-game series with BYU. First pitch for both games is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark.
