ASU softball No. 1 ranking for first-time in program history
The Sun Devil Softball Team made program history Tuesday as they were honored with their first No. 1 ranking in school history in both the NFCA and USA Softball/ESPN.com polls.
According to Head Coach Clint Myers, "The honor is amazing and outstanding, something we strive for every practice, game and outing as a team. We believe we are good enough to be No. 1, but also realize the work we have in front of us. We now have a target on our back. And while it's a wonderful thing to have your program ranked and rated so highly, we also realize that is isn't where you start or how high you're ranked throughout the season, it's where you finish that matters."
The Sun Devils of both diamonds are also enjoying a new first: No. 1 rankings for both ASU Softball and ASU Baseball. The Softball team will return to action this Friday as they set to host their fourth and final home tournament of the 2008 season with the Diamond Devils Invitational. Featured teams include: San Diego, San Diego State, Pacific, Utah and UC Davis. Games will run Friday, March 7 through Sunday March 9 in Tempe at Farrington Stadium.
