Alumni Sports League connects Sun Devils on and off the field
Sports-minded graduates of Arizona State University have the opportunity to connect with other Sun Devil alums during the Alumni Association’s first ever charity dodgeball tournament and its ongoing ASU Alumni Sports League.
The tournament is set to take place 11 a.m.-3 p.m., April 9 at Kiwanis Park and Recreation Center, 6111 S. All America Way in Tempe. Participants can register as an individual or as a six-person team and the tournament includes awards for the top teams, breakfast and a post-event happy hour. A portion of the proceeds from the tournament benefit the ASU Alumni Association.
The sports league, sponsored by the ASU Alumni Association, will feature a division for softball. All teams are coed, and one person on the team must be a dues-paying member of the Alumni Association. The leagues are open to the public and only the team captain needs to be named at the time of registration. League play will take place on Wednesday nights and begins April 13.
Jennifer Holsman, executive director of operations at the Alumni Association, said the tournament and sports league offered Sun Devils the chance to experience their ASU connections in a new way.
“It’s a great opportunity for alums to get together and enjoy some fun, exercise and camaraderie at the same time,” she said.
Upon registration for the league, each player will receive access to an ePacket, which contains scheduling, statistics, and season information. The league fees required of each participant fund customized awards and jerseys, prizes, playing arena access, umpires, sports equipment, special events, social networking opportunities, and a trophy for the league champion.
