Angela Ellsworth, associate professor in the School of Art in Arizona State University’s Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, gave the keynote lecture for the Edwina and Charles Milner Women in the Arts Lecture Series on Feb. 8, 2018, at Western New Mexico University.

Ellsworth, an interdisciplinary artist, combines drawing, sculpture, installation, video and performance. Her work has been reviewed in ARTnews, Frieze magazine, Artforum and more. She has presented work nationally and internationally, including at the Getty Center in Los Angeles; the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney, Australia; and the Zacheta National Gallery of Art in Warsaw, Poland.

In addition to giving the keynote lecture, Ellsworth opened a solo exhibition of works on paper napkins, cardboard and tea towels called “Between Them.” The exhibition explores the space between objects, images and people, investigating hidden qualities of domestic objects. Works from the exhibition are connected to Ellsworth’s Plural Wife Project, which navigates issues of the body in relation to gender, sexuality and cultural histories of the western United States.
