Qian Yan

Qian Yan is a graduate student in the Master of Science in Design program in The Design School in the Arizona State University Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts. Yan acted as the product designer for the Team Note-Taker, and was responsible for physical design and user experience design. The team recently was awarded second place in the software design category of Microsoft Imagine Cup World Finals this summer in New York City.

The Note-Taker project is developing an assistive technology to help low vision students take notes in class. This team of four consists of students from The Design School's Innovation Space program and the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering.

Imagine Cup is an annual competition sponsored and hosted by Microsoft which brings together young technologists worldwide to help resolve some of the world's toughest challenges. This year more than 300,000 students around the world registered for the competition. The Note-Taker team won the first place in U.S. finals and then went to New York City to represent the U.S. in the World Finals.
