Mary Hood, associate professor in the School of Art, received a $15,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts  to support the Maping 2017 project. Through Research: Art Works, the NEA funds research that investigates the impact of the arts on individuals and groups. In its sixth year of support, the NEA will award support 18 projects. T

he majority of projects in this round focus on collecting primary data to study the cognitive and emotional outcomes of arts participation. Others use secondary data analyses from fields such as labor, education and sociology. The Maping project is a biennial printmaking residency program that explores contemporary Native American and Indigenous artistic practices.
