Who
ASU Herberger College School of Art Painting and Drawing program presents Steven Assael as the second in a series of visiting artists. Assael is an internationally acclaimed contemporary figurative painter. He received his degree from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York. He is the recipient of many awards, including the Elizabeth Greenshields Grant and the Charles Romans Award. Assael teaches at the School of Visual Arts in New York. He is represented professionally by the Forum Gallery in New York and paints contemporary imagery using classical techniques.

What
As a visiting artist, Assael presents a figure painting demonstration open to the public and ASU Herberger College art students. Over the course of five hours, Assael will demonstrate his mastery of classical oil technique, painting from the live nude model. The event is open to the public and held in an open-house format.
