3rd Sustainability Solutions Festival to draw top thought leaders to ASU, Phoenix
The Sustainability Solutions Festival will return to Phoenix for its third year at Arizona State University on Feb. 12-28.
The festival will bring together global sustainability thought leaders and organizations for two weeks to celebrate and award entrepreneurs, designers and creative thinkers who are developing solutions to our world’s greatest sustainability challenges.
ASU, a leader in sustainability education, is partnering with local and global leaders in business, consumer innovation, renewable energy, science and the arts for this celebration of sustainability solutions.
“Universities have a great responsibility to shape future development and to ensure sustainability remains a priority,” said ASU President Michael M. Crow. “Hosting this third annual Sustainability Solutions Festival to highlight innovative ideas, technologies and practices is an example of our broader institutional commitment to our global community.”
The Sustainability Solutions Festival, hosted by the ASU Walton Sustainability Solutions Initiatives and presented by the city of Phoenix, SRP and the Walton Family Foundation, features a partnership with GreenBiz and the Sustainability Consortium to bring together global economic and policy leaders who are committed to creating a better, more sustainable world for all of its inhabitants.
“We are excited to once again turn the greater Phoenix region into the hub for sustainability leadership and are looking forward to welcoming back so many dedicated practitioners and innovative scholars who are making substantial global impacts,” said Patricia Reiter, executive director of the Walton Sustainability Solutions Initiatives.
The Sustainability Solutions Festival extends from one week to two this year to include events that will appeal to families, business leaders and sustainability experts. The events will explore how we can individually and collectively spark imagination, ignite change and illuminate sustainable solutions in our communities.
This year marks the first time the Sustainability Solutions Festival is partnering with ASU's Night of the Open Door, which brings a spotlight on sustainability programs and practices across the university. At both the Downtown and Tempe campus events, the festival is providing a Passport to Sustainability, showcasing ASU's green features along with a Sustainability Central area featuring interactive games to show how every person can be an agent of change. Special-edition reusable water bottles will be given to every participant who completes their passport.
Event descriptions and more information about the festival can be found at sustainabilityfestival.asu.edu.
