ASU hosted the fifth in a series of events sponsored by the American Enterprise Institute, the Center for a New American Security, and the New America Foundation. The debate between top-level surrogates of the Obama and Romney presidential campaigns, Dov S. Zakheim, special adviser on Foreign Policy and National Security for the Romney campaign, and Janine Davidson, adviser on National Security Issues for the Obama Campaign, was streamed live on CNN Sept. 19.
Prior to participating in the Surrogates Debate, Peter Bergen, CNN's National Security Analyst and Director of the National Security Studies Program at the New America Foundation, spoke to a full house of students at Barrett, The Honors College on Wednesday about the decade-long hunt bring Al-Queda's leader, Osama bin Laden, to justice.
A full house was on hand at the ASU Well Devils event during the “Thing on Thursday” on ASU’s Polytechnic campus. Attendees learned about healthier lifestyles as they received information on cooking tips, health screenings and nutrition.

The award is named for chemistry professor Milton Glick, who passed away last year. Glick came to ASU in the early 1990s and worked as a provost and executive vice president before serving as president of the University of Nevada-Reno from 2006 until his death.
The 2012 Seeking Justice in Arizona lecture series kicked off this week with a presentation by KJZZ's Nadine Arroyo Rodriguez, senior field correspondent with "Fronteras: The Changing America Desk." The Emmy-nominated journalist discussed her on-air coverage of justice issues of importance to Arizona and the Southwest, including SB1070, the disbarment of Andrew Thomas, and mass deportation. Brian David Johnson, futurist for Intel, announces the partnership with his company and ASU's Center for Science and the Imagination to host Tomorrow Project USA, a platform for globe-spanning, science-based discussions, fueled by a writing competition open to college students everywhere.

Kristen Warner, assistant professor of telecommunication and film at the University of Alabama participated in the Film and Media Studies Guest Speaker Series where she explored the topic “Just Business? Understanding Hollywood Logic and Issues of Identity through Television Casting.”

Following a screening of the part of the film, "Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide" ASU's School of Social Transformation hosted a panel discussion to explore issues raised by the film.
