Women's tennis defeats University of Washington

The No. 30 Arizona State Women's Tennis team defeated No. 36 University of Washington, March 24, at the Whiteman Tennis Center in Tempe, Ariz. The Sun Devils were lead by strong performances from senior Michelle Brycki as well as sophomore Jacqueline Cako at the No. 2 and 1 spots respectively.

"Jacqueline (Cako) and Michelle (Brycki) were great this weekend as they both took care of business rather quickly which really helped their teammates," head coach Sheila McInerney said.

This win marks the second Pac-12 Conference win for Arizona State, and bumps the overall record to 10-3 on the regular season.

"I'm certainly happy that we were able to get our second conference win of the weekend," McInerney said.

With this weekend starting conference play, Coach McInerney said that the team still has a lot of room for imporvement. From here on out, ASU will mostly compete in back to back duals weekends.

"Even though we won the doubles point I thought we should have been more aggressive. Clint (Letcher) and I were vvery pleased with our execution in singles," McInerney said. "However I did feel that we came out strong and didn't let up, which was nice."

The Sun Devils look forward to the next four weeks, which will take the team all across California making stops at Stanford in the north, and University of California, UCLA, and USC in the south.
