Women's swimming shines in Pac-10 opener


<p>The 26th-ranked Arizona State women's swimming team defeated both Oregon State and Utah, 189-73 and 165-96 respectively. The Sun Devils were swimming on all cylinders, taking the top spot in 10 of the 14 events.</p><separator></separator><p>Led by Shannon Landgrebe's hat trick of freestyle victories, the Sun Devils are competing in their prime as their poised to host fifth-ranked California and first-ranked Stanford. Landgrebe finished first in the 100, 200, and 500 freestyle events.</p><separator></separator><p>Cassie Morrice and Karima Chuck touched in one and two in the 1000 free to kick off the individual events. Morrice recorded a time of 9:59.95, while Chuck finished less than a minute late at 10:31.</p><separator></separator><p>Setting the tone for the meet, the ASU relay of Kelli Kyle, Rebecca Ejdervik, Caroline Kuczynski and Katie Haron took first place in the 200-medley relay with a time of 1:43.21, a couple tenths of a second ahead of second-place Utah.<br />The Sun Devils return to competition on January 21 and 22 as ASU hosts the Bay Area schools.</p>
