Women's cross country to compete at Artichoke Invite

The 2012 cross country season continues to roll this weekend as the Arizona State University squad sends its women to Scottsdale Community College to compete in the Artichoke Invitational, Sept. 8.

The women are coming off a second-place finish at the George Kyte Classic in Flagstaff, Ariz., last weekend and will be running the majority of their "pack" runners in Scottsdale this weekend.

The Sun Devils will line up a host of newcomers in freshmen Kaitlin Kaluzny and Alexia Velarde and sophomore Dalanne Bartlette.  For Kaluzny, it will be the first collegiate race of her career.

The three Sun Devil newcomers will join Shaina Corbin and Kayla Springford as the team's competition lineup for the race.

In addition to those five, the Sun Devils will also introduce freshmen Adriana Olivas and Marcella Cartledge to collegiate competition as they join sophomore Carly Paracholski as unattached runners in the event. Olivas and Cartledge come to the Sun Devils having received a much praise from head coach Ryan Cole while Paracholski will look to get the 2012 season off right after being limited by injuries in 2011.

Events are slated to begin at Scottsdale Community College beginning at 7 a.m.  Full results will be available at www.thesundevils.com at the conclusion of the day's events.
