Wissler to participate in OSU conference


<p><a href="http://www.law.asu.edu/Apps/Faculty/Faculty.aspx?individual_id=312">Ros… Wissler</a>, Research Director of the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law's Lodestar Dispute Resolution Program, and a Faculty Fellow in the Center for Law, Science &amp; Innovation, will participate in a symposium on Feb. 5, at Moritz College of Law at The Ohio State University.</p><separator></separator><p>Wissler will be involved in a roundtable discussion during "Codifying Mediation 2.0," the <em>Ohio State Journal</em> <em>on Dispute Resolution</em> Symposium 2010. The participants will discuss issues related to court-ordered and judicial mediation, including the extent to which courts should compel participation in mediation and how that required participation is defined; the appropriateness of mediation by the judge assigned a case for trial; the authority of the court to compel payment of mediators; and the regulation of private mediators who receive court or public agency referrals.</p><separator></separator><p>The symposium also will address whether these issues should be addressed by amending the rules of civil procedure or existing statutes, such as the Federal Dispute Resolution Act or the Uniform Mediation Act.</p><separator></separator><p>To read more about the symposium, click <a href="http://moritzlaw.osu.edu/jdr/symposium.html">here</a>.<br /><em></em></p><separator></separator><p><em>Wissler conducts empirical research on mediation, arbitration, and other alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes. Her research and writing address various policy issues relating to ADR and examine the factors that contribute to the use and effectiveness of ADR processes.
