West campus to host Oct. 1 Career Fest

If timing is everything, Arizona State University’s Career Services office and Alpha Kappa Psi, the student business fraternity, are right on the money, hosting a Career Fest on Oct. 1 at the West campus.

The Career Fest will be presented in La Sala in the University Center Building (UCB) and runs from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

With a slow economy and employment opportunities stagnant, the timing for the event couldn’t be better, says Sarah McDermott, employer relations specialist in Career Services at the West campus.

“Career Fest provides ASU students, alumni and community members the chance to connect with organizations offering internship and career-related opportunities," she says. "Participants can learn more about professions and companies, develop their network and make professional contacts. Career events like these have been instrumental in students’ job search.”

Among the industries and organizations that will be represented at the Career Fest are business, education, finance, insurance, health care, human services, law enforcement and the military.

Career-seekers are encouraged to bring their professional resumes. Career Services offers a resume-critique service for ASU students and alumni, who can submit their document to the “Resume Dropbox” at https://www.west.asu.edu/career/dropbox. Feedback will be provided within 1-2 business days.
