While some students opted for more leisure-oriented activities during Spring Break, others chose to use the time to do volunteer work. Students from the Sandra Day O’Conner College of Law arrive in Prescott Valley, Ariz., at the campus of Northern Arizona University/Yavapai, as part of the Justice Bus project to assist citizens with questions concerning legal matters. Andrea Esquer (left) and Adam Reich (right) visited the Central Yavapai Fire District Training Facility and worked with Jason and Charlotte LaGreca of Mayer, Ariz. during the “Wills for Heroes” program. The program provides legal documents to first responders, including wills and powers of attorney. Jason LaGreca is with the Mayer Fire Department.

ASU’s Wells Fargo Arena hosted the West Regional of the NCAA Division 1 women's basketball playoffs, with Oklahoma State taking on University of Tennessee Chattanooga and Auburn playing Georgia.

The No. 1 ASU baseball team survived a Houston rally to defeat the Cougars 6-5 March 21, in front of 3,429 fans at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark.

Jake Borup got the win to improve to 5-0 in five starts this season. He went five innings and allowed six hits and two runs with three strikeouts. The 20-0 start is the second best start in school history behind only the 1961 team's 21-0 start.

ASU’s Drew Maggi tags the Cougar’s Blake Kelso out at second base. The Sun Devils will begin Pac-10 Conference play March 26, with the opener of a three-game series against California at 6:30 p.m., at Winkles Field-Packard Stadium at Brock Ballpark.

The ASU Brain Fair 2010 was hands-on “brain awareness” event, experienced by an estimated 700 kindergarteners through fifth graders from several Valley area schools. Samantha Ishak (left) and Madison Riorean, fifth-graders from Kyrene de la Sierra in Phoenix, handle a sheep’s brain. The Brain Fair is the creation of Heather Bimonte-Nelson, an ASU associate professor and director of the Behavioral Neuroscience Program in the psychology department in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Benjamin Todd Jealous, president and CEO of the NAACP, delivered the 2010 John P. Morris Memorial Lecture in the Great Hall of ASU's Sandra Day O'Conner College of Law. Prior to the event Jealous (center) and his wife Lia Epperson (right), visiting assistant professor of law at the University of Maryland School of Law, chatted with attendees. Read more.

NASA astronaut John Grunsfeld spoke at ASU about the Hubble Servicing Mission and presented the School of Earth and Space Exploration a framed memento, which included the SESE school flag that John took into space with him during the Hubble mission.

Barbara Ward shops for produce in the Big Happy Farms booth at the monthly farmers market on ASU's Tempe campus. The event is popular with students and faculty as well as university staff members such as Ward, who was shopping during her lunch break from the library.

The Arizona State women's basketball team saw its 2009-10 campaign come to an end March 23 as BYU defeated the Sun Devils 61-53 in the second round of the 2010 Women's National Invitation Tournament. Becca Tobin (32), who had her fourth double-digit rebounding game of the season along with contributing six points, looks for a teammate to pass to as she drives past the Cougars’ Alexis Kaufusi (10).

ASU alumus Xchel Hernandez talks Google bandwidth with local band The City Speaks, from left, Andy Nees, Tommy Barr and Tim Hintze. Hernandez was the central character in a humorous YouTube parody project led by Alt^I and ASU Public Affairs to support the City of Tempe’s effort to draw the Google Fiber in the Community project to provide ultra high-speed to a community. Janet Napolitano, Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security and former governor of Arizona, returned to Phoenix to deliver the John P. Frank Memorial Lecture. ASU President Michael Crow moderated the question and answer period, following Napolitano's remarks. Read more.
