Week in Review: Sept. 21-27

Career Fiesta is the largest job and internship fair on the Tempe campus, with more than 140 employers attending over the four-day event at the Memorial Union. Advisors helped students who needed a place to start.

Chase Chen, who is in his first year of the W.P. Carey MBA program, carefully considers which businesses he should talk to in pursuit of an internship this summer.

Raul Yzaguirre spoke at ASU’s West campus as part of Hispanic Heritage Month. Yzaguirre is a presidential professor of practice at ASU’s Center for Community Development and Civil Rights and former president of the National Council of La Raza.

Grispina Sanchez and her brother, Rigaberto Sanchez, found a quiet place to study in the Polytechnic campus Student Union.

The heavy rain did not dampen the spirits of these Sun Devil fans, as they braved the elements to cheer for the Arizona State football team against Georgia.

Besides assisting on many tackles, Jarrell Hollman (8) also recovered a fumble and intercepted a pass from Georgia, returning it for an ASU touchdown.

Dimitri Nance (31) had a career night in ASU’s 20-17 loss to Georgia when he rushed for 108 yards on 25 carries and also caught four passes for 47 yards.

The Sun Devil volleyball team opened conference play Sept. 25, with a sweep of the 14th ranked Lady Bruins of UCLA. The next night they lost 3-1 against the 13th USC Women of Troy, leaving the Devils with an 11 and 3 record as they begin a road trip this week to the Pacific Northwest to meet Washington and Washington State.

Jill Shoquist's first goal of the season proved to be enough offense for ASU’s women's soccer team on Sept. 25, as the Sun Devils defeated Pepperdine 1-0. The team’s unbeaten home streak continued as they defeated Northern Arizona 4-0, Sept. 27.
