Things are in full swing at ASU, as students settle in after the start of classes.

A display for the Science and Science Fiction exhibit sits in Nobel Science Library on ASU’s Tempe campus. The exhibit is on view through Sept. 30 and covers themes such as Mars, robots, genetics, sustainability and space. For more information on the exhibit click here.
ASU hosted the 10th annual football kickoff luncheon at Wells Fargo Arena. Among the many attendees were U.S. Representative Congressman Harry Mitchell, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer and U.S. Senator John McCain. They received jerseys from ASU athletes Gerald Munns (with Mitchell, at left), Omar Bolden (with Brewer, center) and Thomas Weber (with McCain, at right).

Aaron Brown, Walter Cronkite Professor of Journalism and former CNN anchor spoke at the Cronkite School's “Must See Mondays Speaker Series” and chatted with students afterwards. The series, which takes place in the Cronkite School’s First Amendment Forum, is free and open to the public and features a prominent journalism or public relations professional each week. The first of the Public History Brown Bag events hosted Robert A. Melikian, author of “Vanishing Phoenix: A Look at Historic Phoenix & Preservation Issues.” The event was co-sponsored by the Public History & Scholarly Publishing Programs in the School of Historical, Philosophical and Religious Studies and by the ASU Melikian Center. Melikian earned both is undergrad and law degree at ASU and is the co-owner and manager of San Carlos Hotel in downtown Phoenix. The Interdisciplinary Science and Technology Building 4 on the Tempe campus is scheduled for completion completed in May 2012. It will provide flexible laboratories with adjoining workspace for the School of Earth and Space Exploration, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, and Fulton Schools of Engineering research programs including Environmental Engineering and Energy Research Initiatives. On the ground floor, a 250-seat auditorium and gallery area will serve as university classrooms, as well as an outreach function for K-12 educational programs and public events.
