Vital weekend for ASU women's soccer fans

Lace up your boots. Put on your shin protection. Pull up your socks and walk out onto the Burmuda grass covered pitch. This is Sun Devil Women’s Soccer. The girls go out onto the boiling 90-something field every week and play their hearts out in what we all ultimately hope comes out in a win. Last weekend they faced a tough Stanford team and ended up coming short. They did have a very admirable first half against the Cardinals (7-1-1) however, as they held them to zero points through the first 40 minutes. They hope to come back with wins this weekend when they play USC on Friday and UCLA on Saturday.

On an average, soccer players usually run five to eight miles during a soccer game. Granted, not a very fast pace if it takes them 80 minutes to run them but it’s still pretty impressive. Especially when they do it in the heat (which is probably why they wear white at home games).

Luckily for the fans the stands are airconditioned! (false) But at least we don’t have to run 5-8 miles and you can wear whatever color you want (but gold is preferred)!

The team is scheduled to face their remaining PAC-12 opponents in the upcoming weeks, which means this is the most important part of their schedule. With this weekend bringing two of their six remaining home games can you really afford to miss even one?

Come on, let’s go cheer on the Sun Devil soccer girls while they’re at home against USC. Then watch the football team dominate on Saturday, then go back to the soccer stadium on Monday as the team takes on UCLA!

In case you didn’t have enough reasons to go, on Friday at the game you can enter to win an autographed soccer ball, and Monday is the annual gold game!

Go Devils!!
