Visiting Professor to Discuss How Physical Activity Impacts Cancer

March 09, 2005

MESA, Ariz. — Dr. Kerry Courneya, one of Canada’s leading scientists in behavioral medicine, will speak at a Research Colloquium from 3:45 to 5 p.m., March 30, in the Student Union Ballroom B at Arizona State University’s Polytechnic campus.

Courneya, professor of behavioral medicine at the University of Alberta and a Canada Research Chair in Physical Activity and Cancer, has devoted his career delving into the questions of whether and how physical activity can impact cancer -- both as an intervention in the prevention of the disease and post- diagnosis as an adjuvant to other therapy. Courneya will discuss the outcomes of recently completed trials of exercise and cancer treatment.

The lecture is free and open to the public and is sponsored by the ASU Department of Exercise and Wellness at the Polytechnic campus. Parking is available in visitor designated parking lots only. For more information, contact Pamela Swan at (480) 727-1934 or Pamela Swan.
