Theater company sets stage with Gammage

<p>At 7 p.m., April 28, the ensemble-based theater company – SITI Co. – will present its piece “Hotel Cassiopeia” at ASU Galvin Playhouse. This performance will mark the beginning of a three-year artist-in-residency with ASU Gammage.</p><separator></separator><p>“Hotel Cassiopeia” explores the life of the American collage artist Joseph Cornell as he observes the city he so loved. It also highlights how Cornell overhears – and fabricates – parts of conversations, and how his work was inspired by movies, artists and the bustle of Manhattan &#39;s streets.</p><separator></separator><p>SITI Co. was founded in 1992 by Anne Bogart and Tadashi Suzuki to redefine and revitalize contemporary theater in the United States through an emphasis on international cultural exchange and collaboration. SITI believes that contemporary American theater must necessarily incorporate artists from around the world and learn from the resulting cross-cultural exchange of dance, music, art and performance experiences.</p><separator></separator><p>Over the next three years, SITI Co. will work with ASU Gammage, and the theater and dance departments, creating educational activities to connect with the community. SITI also will return in 2008 and 2009 for two more performances.</p><separator></separator><p>Tickets are on sale at ASU Gammage, Ticketmaster, showup.com and asugammage.com, and they can be bought by calling (480) 965-3434. Ticket prices are $10 for students and $20 for the general public.</p><separator></separator><p>SITI Co. is presented as part of the New Times Beyond Broadway series at ASU Gammage and is sponsored by American Express.</p>
