Sun Devil Campus Stores holds grand opening events, Oct. 25–29

Arizona State University and the Follett Higher Education Group host a week-long grand opening celebration for the Tempe Sun Devil Campus Store from Oct. 25-29. A ribbon cutting with ASU President Michael Crow and Follett President Tom Christopher takes place at 10 a.m., Oct. 27, at the Tempe campus store location.

“We welcome the ASU community to join us for several events and contests that celebrate the grand opening of the Sun Devil Campus Store on the Tempe campus,” says Sam Wheeler, executive director, Auxiliary Business Services at ASU. “Teaming up with Follett not only enhances the campus community’s shopping experience, but allows them to take advantage of competitive, retail pricing.”

The celebration begins Oct. 25 with daily food giveaways. From 11 a.m. to noon, Oct. 26, participate a Kiss an iPod® competition, where two contestants hold an empty iPod box between their faces for as long as possible without using their hands. Later in the day from 1-3 p.m., compete in an Apple iPad car race tournament.

Enter a T-shirt design contest from 10-11 a.m., Oct. 28, and check out the latest styles at the 2011 fashion show with ASU’s Hip Hop Coalition Dance Group from 3-4 p.m.

Don’t forget to Go Gold on Oct. 29 and receive 20% off all gold clothing to show support for the ASU football team as they take on PAC-12 opponent Colorado in the 2011 Homecoming game.

Beyond the grand-opening events, the Tempe store location features a new name, an improved look and feel, and a refined shopping experience featuring a larger selection of affordable textbook options. As part of Follett assuming management of the campus location, this series of renovation furthers ASU’s commitment in delivering the very best in academic retail to the campus and greater Tempe community. In addition to books and supplies, the new Sun Devil Campus Store has increased its clothing assortments, carrying a wider variety of the newest Sun Devil gear including a Nike section for sports lovers and athletes. Students, faculty and all shoppers can take advantage of new seating areas, and lounge in the new Starbucks Coffee Café.
