Softball faces Oregon in Women's College World Series opener
Third-seeded ASU softball (51-9) will face 11-seed Oregon (44-16) in the WCWS starting at 6:30 p.m., PT, May 31. Every game is played in double-elimination format and will be televised on ESPN2/ESPN3, as well as a best-of-three series between the final two teams.
The Sun Devils outlasted Louisiana with a sweep of day two of the Super Regionals on Friday, to punch in the program's 10th Women's College World Series appearance. The Ducks are entering their second WCWS trip and first since 1989.
In 2012, the clubs met in Pac-12 play in Eugene, Ore., each team snagging a win (3-0 loss for ASU, then 7-4 win). The WCWS will break the even tilt between to two teams - ASU is 2-7 against Pac-12 teams in the WCWS.
Also in ASU's side of the bracket for the WCWS is seventh-seed Tennessee (52-12) and two-seed Alabama (55-7).
