School drive deemed a success
The Commission on the Status of Women asked, and the ASU community delivered.
In the just-concluded Tools for Teaching Drive, thousands of pencils, pens, crayons, dry-erase markers, binders, glue sticks, tape rolls, binders, folders, bottles of hand sanitizer and boxes of tissue were contributed for teachers at elementary schools near each ASU campus.
“We received an amazing response to the drive from members of the ASU community and as a result of the generous donations, the lives of hundreds of children have been positively impacted!” said Karen Engler, coordinator of CSW.
Major corporate supporters of the Commission’s drive included Staples Office Supplies and the ASU Bookstore.
Donations from the Tempe Campus benefit Arredondo Elementary School (Title 1). Donations from the Downtown Phoenix campus and SkySong Campuses will go to ASU Preparatory Academy at Downtown (Title 1). West campus donations will benefit Kachina Bell Elementary (Title 1), and the ASU Preparatory Academy at Polytechnic will benefit from the Polytechnic drive.
Engler also thanked those who helped with the drive. “Kudos to all of the CSW members who devoted their time and energy to this project — they were amazing and inspiring!”
