Salcido appointed to new HR role


<p>Arizona State University announces the appointment of Kevin Salcido as interim associate vice president and chief human resources officer, effective Aug. 24. Salcido will replace Matt McElrath who is leaving the university to fill a position at the University of Southern California.</p><separator></separator><p>During his time as senior director, Salcido has worked hand-in-hand with McElrath in developing ASU’s human resources strategy and effecting its implementation. </p><separator></separator><p>“He has a rich human resources management base in the public and private sectors,” says Morgan Olsen, the executive vice president in Business and Finance. “We are confident Kevin will continue the momentum of our continuous improvement trajectory and make his own unique contributions in this appointment.”     </p><separator></separator><p>Salcido has been in the human resources field for more than 20 years, holding executive and senior management positions in the retail, consumer products, newspaper and utility industries. His major areas of interest include employee and labor relations, organizational development, culture and coaching for performance.</p><separator></separator><p>In his new role, Salcido wants to ensure that Human Resources continues to meet the needs of employees and the university.</p><separator></separator><p>“We will be evaluating everything from processes to training classes to our messaging to provide consistent, quality service to our customers,” Salcido says.</p><separator></separator><p>“We will continue to refine our practices and programs, and eventually, we would like to become more involved in business practices such as succession planning and organizational development.”</p><separator></separator><p>A native of Phoenix, Salcido holds a bachelor’s degree in justice studies and a master of business administration (MBA) degree from ASU.</p><separator></separator><p>“We are grateful for the strong, professional human resources leadership that Matt McElrath has provided for ASU,” Olsen says.</p>
