Rose to discuss book on legal history at Berkeley
<p>Professor Jonathan Rose of the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law will participate in a seminar on April 4 at Berkeley Law at the University of California, Berkeley, to discuss a new book on the history of law in Europe.</p><separator></separator><p>The book, <i>Storia del diritto in Europa</i>. <i>Dal medioevo all'etá contemporanea</i>, by Antonio Padoa Schioppa, "raises challenging questions not only for scholars of European legal history but for modern historians and legal scholars as well," writes Laurent Mayali, the Lloyd M. Robbins Professor of Law at Berkeley.</p><separator></separator><p>"The recent publication of this work provides an excellent opportunity to focus scholarly attention from across disciplines on the role of history and the law in the development of the European legal tradition and the complex relationship between customs, legislation, theology and legal doctrine in the formation of Western legal culture," Mayali wrote.</p><separator></separator><p>The seminar will bring together an interdisciplinary group of scholars with the author to engage in a discussion of the book and the ideas it explores.</p><separator></separator><p>After spending most of his career focusing on antitrust, regulation and legal ethics, Rose changed direction.
