Rock Art Center announces petroglyph summer camps

StartFragment ></p><separator></separator><p class="MsoNormal">Do your kids like to explore, dig in the dirt, collect clues and create?</p><separator></separator><p class="MsoNormal">The Deer Valley Rock Art Center is pleased to host another season of its popular summer camps, Petroglyph Pathfinders.</p><separator></separator><p class="MsoNormal">The center offers one-week action-packed camps for children ages 8 to 11 at a real archaeology site. <span>&nbsp;</span>&ldquo;Our camp fosters adventure and enrichment exploring themes such as desert animals and insects, botany and native gardening, archaeology and cultural anthropology and of course, a good dose of fun. Campers will explore these topics through hands-on educational activities, crafts, storytelling, games, hikes and much more,&rdquo; said Kim Arth, director.</p><separator></separator><p class="MsoNormal">The dates are as follows:</p><separator></separator><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>May 31-June 4:<span> </span></strong>Summer Camp Session I</p><separator></separator><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>June 14-18:<span> </span></strong>Summer Camp Session II</p><separator></separator><p class="MsoNormal"><strong>July 12-16:</strong><span> </span>Summer Camp Session III</p><separator></separator><p class="MsoNormal">Camps are 8 a.m.-3 p.m., Monday through Friday. Deer Valley Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85308.</p><separator></separator><p class="MsoNormal">The Deer Valley Rock Art Center has the largest concentration of Native American petroglyphs in the Phoenix Valley. Visitors hike a 1/4-mile trail to view more than 1,500 petroglyphs made between 800 and 5,000 years ago. The museum aims to promote preservation, connection and respect for the site and is a destination for families to learn about archaeology in their own backyard.</p><separator></separator><p class="MsoNormal">The Center is managed by one of the top archaeology programs in the country at Arizona State University and is a Phoenix Point of Pride. Deer Valley Rock Art Center is located at 3711 W.
