Recruiting second-graders for study

ASU's Department of Speech and Hearing Science, in the College of Health Solutions, is recruiting second-graders for a multi-state study investigating how working memory supports word learning. You can bring your child to our lab on ASU's Tempe campus, or we will meet you at a library or school in your neighborhood.

The study requires about 12 hours (5-7 sessions). Your child completes a hearing and vision screening, and standardized speech, oral language, nonverbal thinking and word reading assessments.

Each day, the children play pirate-themed computer games that assess working memory. The games are fun! Children earn treasures for their pirate. At the end of the study, your child will receive a $50 gift card.
