Quotes: Osweiler expects great game out of UCLA

ON UCLA:

“They have a lot of talent across the board. They have a lot of speed, size and great athleticism. They are a split-safety team that will play cover-three and they have a lot of talent on defense. I’m expecting a great game out of them.”

ON THIS WEEK’S MATCHUP:

“This is what we have been working towards all season. We understand that and that’s why I can promise you that we are going to go out and have a great week of execution, preparation and we are going to get ready to play this football game because this game means a lot to us. We understand that to meet our end of season goals, this is one of those football games that we have to have.”

ON UCLA RECRUITING HIM:

“I had a lot of interest in UCLA. They recruited me for a while. Obviously, I think I made the right choice and came to Arizona State, but they were definitely one of the schools that were on the radar. [I talked to them] a little bit - not a lot; it was kind of early in the process and they were not any of the major schools that were in contention at the end.”

ON A NEW LEVEL OF FOCUS PRE-GAME:

“Looking back on it, everything seemed to be like a normal Saturday. Guys were loose at the hotel, but confident. Guys were really mentally sharp in our walkthroughs and our film sessions and then, leading up to the game, we did everything we needed to do. Then, we just went out in that first quarter and executed like we had worked towards all week long. That was great to see and we just have to continue to build upon that so we can continue to do that on a game-by-game basis.”

ON BACKUPS GETTING PLAYING TIME AGAINST COLORADO:

“Any game experience is good game experience, no matter what time of the game it comes in. There’s no way to prepare for the speed of the game, what it’s like when you’re actually out there on the field in the stadium. So, for those guys to get out there and get a little bit of time this late in the season is good to see. I hope they had a lot of fun. It was fun to watch them.”

ON BEING COMFORTABLE IN THE OFFENSE:

“I am getting to that point. With every single game that I start and finish, I am becoming more comfortable. I understand things at a higher and quicker level. I am seeing coverages, little things that I might not have seen a year ago, maybe even three weeks ago, but now I am making little checks and it turns out to be a touchdown or something. So I would say that with every game that I am playing, I am getting more comfortable. Hopefully, I am getting better with every game.”

ON HAVING Cameron Marshall FULLY HEALTHY:

“Having Cameron hurt all year has not only hurt Cameron but it has hurt us a little bit. Cameron has fought through it every single week. He’s gone out there and played his heart out but now, just to have him healthy really gives him that extra gear that maybe he hadn’t had prior to this game. It’s hard to tell because Cameron’s a warrior and has gone out every single week, never complained at all and has played his butt off. Just to have him healthy, I think, gives him a lot of extra confidence and obviously you saw the results Saturday.”

 ON EXCITEMENT GOING INTO NOVEMBER:

“Now the mood shifts to finish. Finish what we got started and secure the South. Obviously, everything is in our hands. We control our own destiny and, as a football team starting November, you can’t ask for a better situation. We just have to take it on a week-by-week basis. We understand what is on the table for us to achieve and now we just have to go out there stay focused and take care of business.”
