Pueblo Grande ceramics exhibit based on ASU alum's dissertation

A new exhibit at Pueblo Grande Museum highlights Hohokam pottery and recent findings regarding its production and distribution.

The exhibit, “Supply and Demand,” is curated by and based on the doctoral dissertation of Arizona State University alumna Sophia Kelly. It was featured in the Nov. 8 edition of The Arizona Republic.

An archaeologist and cultural resources manager, Kelly completed the anthropology program in the School of Human Evolution and Social Change in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Her research indicates that the Hohokam economy was a vast network that included the trade of thousands of glittering mica vessels created by women potters who lived along the Gila River.
