Professor's play premieres in St. Paul

ASU theatre and film professor Gus Edwards' play "Two Old Black Guys Just Sitting Around Talking" is now up in a world premiere at St. Paul's Penumbra Theatre.

Set in a retirement home, the play revolves around Abe and Henry, two enemies who are now co-dependents.

"They're like [Muhammad] Ali and [Joe] Frazier," said Edwards. "They may be adversaries, but their relationship gives meaning to their lives. One doesn't exist without the other."

"I love to explore character, to get in there and find out what makes these people tick," Edwards said. "I've been carrying bits of these characters for years now. It's nice to get them out."
