April 08, 2013

The third-ranked Arizona State water polo team continued its dominant run through the Brown Tournament, capping off the weekend with victories over Harvard and Michigan on Sunday to improve to 5-0 on the weekend and 24-5 on the season. Recaps of the action can be found below.

ASU returns to action at home next Saturday to wrap up the 2013 regular season on Senior Day as the team will take on

ASU 10, Michigan 8

The Sun Devils had their hands full with 15th-ranked Michigan in the fourth of five games of the Brown Tournament.  Finding themselves trailing 3-2 after the first quarter, the Sun Devils were able to bounce back and take a 5-4 lead into halftime before outscoring Michigan 3-1 in the third quarter for an 8-5 edge that they wouldn’t relinquish.

Senior Alicia Brightwell put the team on her back, scoring five goals on seven shots to go along with four steals to help put the game away.  With the effort, Brightwell matched teammate Shannon Haas as just the second play in ASU history to score five or more goals in five different games.

Haas scored once for the Sun Devils in the contest, as did Anna Kertes and Ao Gao whilePetra Pardi added two goals.

E.B. Keeve played the whole game for ASU in the cage, logging nine saves in the contest
