New downtown eateries boast dining diversity
Students, faculty and staff at ASU’s Downtown Phoenix campus will have nearly a dozen new dining opportunities available to them this semester.
Downtown diners have a smorgasbord of new eateries to choose from, which are serving up tasty offerings from pizza to sliders to sub-sandwiches to gourmet coffee.
“As the downtown Phoenix area continues to evolve, so does the dining landscape,” says Cassandra Aska, the Department of Student engagement director. “Students have told us they want more dining options and these new restaurants will help enrich their experiences here at the Downtown Phoenix campus.”
El Portal Mexican Grill, Subway and Sbarro Italian Eatery, located at the Walter Cronkite School of Mass Communication and Journalism, 555 N. Central Ave., opened for business in January.
Metro Marche, a food court located inside the recently completed, 1.1 million-square-foot North Building of the expanded Phoenix Convention Center, 100 N. Third Street, held its grand opening earlier this month. The six new food venues include Bistro on 3rd, Crust Italian American Fusion, Urban Wok, Fresh Gourmet to Go, Tortillas Mexican Grill and Central City Coffee.
Other new eateries new in the downtown area include Turf Accountant Irish Restaurant & Pub, 705 N. First St.; Sens Asian Tapas & Sake Bar, 705 N. First St., Suite 120, and Z Pizza, 111 W. Monroe St, Suite 130.
