Music faculty release CD of new works


<p>Six music faculty in the ASU Herberger College of Fine Arts School of Music combined their artistry to make first recordings of six new pieces on the recently released CD, “Discovery,” on Summit Records.</p><separator></separator><p>The six new works were written for hornist and professor emeritus Thomas Bacon, executive producer, and pianist and Regents Professor Caio Pagano. Additional School of Music faculty involved in the recording project include associate professor Katherine McLin (violin), professor James DeMars (composer), professor Samuel Pilafian (recording producer) and faculty associate Clarke Rigsby (recording engineer).</p><separator></separator><p>The music was recorded in Katzin Concert Hall in the School of Music building on the Tempe campus.</p><separator></separator><p>“Discovery” is derived from a major work on the disc, “Trio.” Almeida Prado wrote “Trio” in 2000 to pay homage to the 500th anniversary of the discovery of Brazil by the Portuguese.</p>
