McKenna, Cako named to All-Pac-10 Women's Tennis Team
Senior Kelcy McKenna and freshman Jacqueline Cako were named to the Pac-10 All-Conference team, Commissioner Larry Scott announced Thursday.
McKenna, a senior who notched a 27-10 overall record this season playing in the No. 1 spot for ASU, earned first team honors for the second time in her career. McKenna was also named first-team All-Pac-10 for the 2008-09 season.
The senior started out the tournament season a perfect 14-0, winning the singles titles in both the Cal Nike Invitational and the ASU Thunderbird Invitational. Continuing strong into dual play, McKenna upset top-ranked singles player Maria Sanchez of USC and competed into the Pac-10 doubles championship semifinals with partner Micaela Hein. McKenna graduated in December with a 3.86 in Education.
Cako earned second-team honors, racking up at 22-4 overall record in her freshman campaign. The first year Sun Devil also earned ITA All-American honors as one of the top-16 seeds for the NCAA women’s singles Championship.
McKenna and Cako will compete in the NCAA singles Championships, along with Hein in doubles, May 25-30 in Stanford, Calif.
