Marchant to speak at ABA meeting
<p><a href="http://www.law.asu.edu/Apps/Faculty/Faculty.aspx?individual_id=6">Gary Marchant</a>, Executive Director of the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law's Center for Law, Science & Innovation and Lincoln Professor of Emerging Technologies, Law and Ethics, will address a meeting of the American Bar Association, Jan. 28-30 in Colorado.</p><separator></separator><p>Marchant will participate in a plenary session, "Role of Human Genome and Genetic Testing in Toxic and Mass Torts Litigation," at the ABA Section of Litigation's Environmental, Mass Torts and Products Liability Litigation Committee's Joint CLE Seminar.</p><separator></separator><p>His panel will explore the significant ethical, privacy, health and safety issues surrounding the emergence of DNA testing to determine whether an individual could be or has been injured by exposure to toxic substances. The issues will be looked at in the contexts of civil litigation and the workplace, following passages of the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act of 2007.</p><separator></separator><p>To view the program, click <a href="http://www.law.asu.edu/files/Administration/Communication/Faculty_Notes… research interests include the use of genetic information in environmental regulation, risk and the precautionary principle, legal aspects of personalized medicine, and regulation of emerging technologies such as nanotechnology, neuroscience and biotechnology. He teaches courses in Environmental Law, Law, Science & Technology, Genetics and the Law, Biotechnology: Science, Law and Policy, and Nanotechnology Law & Policy.
