Marchant to address D.C. conference


<p><a href="/Apps/Faculty/Faculty.aspx?individual_id=6">Gary Marchant</a>, of the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law, will participate in a panel discussion on Monday, Sept. 15, at a conference sponsored by George Mason University entitled, &quot;21st Century Regulation: Discovering Better Solutions for Enduring Problems.&quot;</p><separator></separator><p>Marchant, executive director of the College's Center for the Study of Law, Science, &amp; Technology, will be on the panel, &quot;Regulation in a Changing World: Lessons for Regulating New Technology and Solving Social Problems in Innovative Ways.&quot; He will advance the idea that, by insisting new technologies be treated in the same way as existing technologies, regulation won't unduly impede development of these highly-valued new technologies.</p><separator></separator><p>The conference is being hosted by the university's Mercatus Center, which works to bridge the gap that often exists between economic understanding and real-world decision making.</p><separator></separator><p><span style="font-size: 9pt; color: black; font-family: Tahoma">Janie Magruder, <a href="mailto:Jane.Magruder@asu.edu"><font color="#0000ff">Jane.Magruder@asu.edu</font></a><br />(480) 727-9052<br />Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law</span></p>
