Lodestar Center seeks Gen Next applicants

The ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Innovation is now accepting applications for the 2012/2013 Generation Next Nonprofit Leadership Academy (Gen Next), Class V.

The Generation Next Nonprofit Leadership Academy is an affordable and highly effective leadership development program designed for emerging leaders in the nonprofit sector. The program provides the opportunity for a new leader to join a cohort of individuals, in order to develop knowledge and acquire tools to qualify for higher-level positions at their respective nonprofit organizations.

The program is open to emerging leaders in nonprofits, trade associations, advocacy groups, foundations, and corporations who collaborate with nonprofits.

Up to 25 individuals will be selected through a competitive process to participate in the nine-month program beginning in August 2012 and ending in May 2013. Each program day will cover a variety of topics including, but not limited to, public policy and advocacy, collaboration, marketing and media relations, board development, donor relations, and leadership development.

The Gen Next Program offers:

• Increased awareness and understanding of the nonprofit sector and issues affecting its growth and prosperity;
• Leadership skills development, cultivation and opportunities for engagement; and
• A broader network of personal and professional relationships.

“The Generation Next Nonprofit Leadership Academy has proven to be a priceless program that has accelerated my knowledge and understanding of the Valley’s nonprofit sector,” said Sentari Minor, Program Specialist for the Rodel Foundation of Arizona and current Gen Next Class IV participant. “Not only did I gain access to valuable resources, but I was able to meet and establish relationships with an entire cadre of like-minded emerging nonprofit leaders.”
