Local winners place at Intel fair
<p>Seven high school students who won top honors at regional science fairs in Arizona participated in the 2007 Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), held May 13-18 in Albuquerque, N.M. These seven students were among 1,510 finalists from 51 countries and territories across the world.</p><separator></separator><p>ASU's American Indian Programs Office on the Polytechnic campus coordinates nearly all the regional science fairs in Arizona.</p><separator></separator><p>Included in Arizona 's representation were five students with individual projects, and two students with a team project. The students represented Chandler High School and Hamilton High School in Chandler, Corona del Sol High School in Tempe, and Wingate High School in Fort Wingate, N.M.</p><separator></separator><p>All five students with individual projects won one or more awards at the 2007 ISEF, for a total value of $14,250.</p><separator></separator><p>In addition to the seven finalists, five students attended as observers. These students won top honors at the middle school division at the American Indian Science and Engineering Fair (AISEF), Central Arizona Regional Science and Engineering Fair (CARSEF), or Northern Arizona Regional Science and Engineering Fair (NARSEF). The observers served as ambassadors at ISEF, assisting classes of students visiting from elementary schools in the Albuquerque area.</p><separator></separator><p>Next year, the three science fairs – AISEF, CARSEF and NARSEF – will combine to form the Arizona Science and Engineering Fair, to be held March 18-21 at the Phoenix Convention Center .</p><separator></separator><p>For more information, visit the Web site <a href="http://azsef.asu.edu/home.html">http://azsef.asu.edu/home.html</a>.</p&…;
