Local artists show work at ASU Gammage exhibit

March 17, 2010

Oil, acrylic, watercolor and pastel – there will be something for everyone when members of the Scottsdale Artists League exhibit their artworks at ASU Gammage April 6-May 9.

Scottsdale Artists League, now with more than 250 members strong, was founded in 1961 as a nonprofit organization to encourage the practice of art, promote the appreciation and application of all forms of art, and foster good fellowship amongst artists and members of the community.

The league, formed by a group of Arizona artists, now provides scholarships each year to worthy art students, sponsors workshops, encourages outdoor paint-outs and has juried as well as nonjuried exhibitions.

For more information about the league, which is open to amateur and professional artists, and even to non-artists, go to www.scottsdaleartistsleague.org.

Exhibition hours at ASU Gammage are 1 to 4 p.m. Mondays, or by appointment. Due to rehearsals, event set-up, performances, special events and holidays, it is advisable to call (480) 965-6912 or (480) 965-0458 to ensure viewing hours, since they are subject to cancellation without notice.

Visitor parking is available at meters around the perimeter of ASU Gammage. Entrance is through the east lobby doors by the box office.
