Legacy of Steve Jobs alive and well at ASU
In the week following Steve Jobs' untimely death, many people around the world paid tribute to the innovator and Apple co-founder who almost single-handedly ushered in a new era of technology.
Students, faculty and staff at ASU SkySong, the university's innovation hub, showed their respect by wearing black T-shirts last Friday – on "Steve Jobs Day" – and discussed their commitment to what many are calling Jobs' legacy: education and innovation. The two are seamlessly connected at ASU, as the university aims to continue fostering American innovation.
"Everything we do here is focused on supporting and promoting entrepreneurship both within the university with student, faculty and staff startups, as well as supporting startups in the Arizona and global community," said Meagan Garrett, communications manager of economic development and global enterprise.
"A lot of our students in our student entrepreneurship initiative are college students. They're just starting out. They're creating these brand new businesses. And we're here to help facilitate that – to give them the services that they need to be able to be a college student and run their business. And as we know, that's when Steve Jobs started as well."
