Law students compete in William C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moots

Four students, David Banko, Alyson Vivattanapa, Kevin Blood and Gayathiri Shanmuganatha, recently competed in the Hong Kong edition of the William C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot. The team did not advance to the elimination rounds, but did earn several honors.

The team earned two honorable mentions for excellence in brief writing, one for its claimant’s brief and one for its respondent’s brief. Professor Charles Calleros said it was one of the two teams out of 90 to earn honorable mention on both briefs.

Shanmuganatha also earned honorable mention for excellence in individual oral advocacy.

Four other students, Edith Cseke, Heather Fuerstman, Brandon Nagy and Naomi Thurston, will soon compete in a larger Vis competition in Vienna.

The teams are co-coached by Calleros and DLA Piper Associate Kate Frenzinger.
