Launch of ASU's Simon A. Levin math center
In spring 2014, Arizona State University celebrated the renaming of the Mathematical, Computational and Modeling Sciences Center to the Simon A. Levin Mathematical, Computational and Modeling Sciences Center. At the private ceremony, Simon A. Levin, George M. Moffett Professor of Biology at Princeton University, was honored for his accomplishments in mathematics and insights into fundamental group dynamics.
The launch offered networking opportunities for Oyita Udiani, graduate student graduate in the Applied Mathematics for the Life and Social Sciences program (AMLSS).
Panel discussion with ASU President Michael M. Crow, Sander van der Leeuw, ASU Foundation Professor in the School of Sustainability and School of Human Evolution and Social Change, and featured guest, professor Simon Levin.
The renaming ceremony and conference attracted students, faculty and distinguished guests from across the United States.

Launch attendee Amber Brown, administrator of the John and Alice Tyler Prize for Environmental Achievement, University of Southern California. Professor Levin received the prize in 2014.
Assistant professor Anuj Mubayi, Northeastern Illinois University, received his doctoral degree from ASU in applied mathematics.
