Kader on Law Day panel: 'Law, Justice and the Holocaust: What You Do Matters'
<p><a href="http://www.law.asu.edu/Apps/Faculty/Faculty.aspx?individual_id=128">Dav… Kader</a>, professor of law at the Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law and faculty affiliate at the Melikian Center for Russian, Eurasian, and East European Studies, will appear on a Law Day web-based seminar entitled, "Law, Justice, and the Holocaust: What You Do Matters," on April 30, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.</p><separator></separator><p>The seminar is organized by the Arizona Supreme Court and the State Bar of Arizona and can qualify for up to 2½ hours of CLE credit. For more information on signing up for the seminar, click <a href="http://www.azcourts.gov/mediaroom/PressReleasesNews/LawDay2010.aspx">he… program will use short videos to place the historical events in context and examine Hitler's rise to power, followed by historical background information presented by Dr. William Meinecke from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.</p><separator></separator><p>Following that, in the panel discussion moderated by former Chief Justice Ruth V. McGregor, Kader will be joined by Arizona Chief Justice Rebecca White Berch and Yavapai County Attorney Sheila Polk.</p><separator></separator><p>Law Day, celebrated on May 1, was founded by President Dwight D. Eisenhower, who described it as "a day of national dedication to the principle of government under law." This year's theme is Law in the 21st Century: Enduring Traditions, Emerging Challenges.</p><separator></separator><p>Kader is also a faculty affiliate at the Center for the Study of Religion & Conflict, Center for the Study of Medieval & Renaissance Studies, and the Jewish Studies Program. He teaches in the areas of criminal procedure, torts, state constitutional law and religion and the Constitution. He recently lectured on "Religion & the American Constitution" at Sarajevo University in Bosnia-Herzegovina, and in Zagreb, Croatia, at the Open Society Institute Conference on Religion in Civil Society.</p><separator></separator><p>Kader served nine terms as president of the Phoenix Holocaust Survivors' Association and is on the Coordinating Council of Generations of the Shoah International. He also serves on the advisory councils of the Martin-Springer Institute at Northern Arizona University and the V.
