Kader elected as affiliate at Melikian Center


<p>Professor <a href="http://http//www.law.asu.edu/Apps/Faculty/Faculty.aspx?individual_id=12… Kader</a> has been elected as an affiliate faculty member in the ASU Melikian Center for Russian, Eurasian &amp; East European Studies.</p><separator></separator><p>"Since 2005, David Kader has participated in several Melikian Center initiatives," according to printed materials prepared for a recent Melikian Center Affiliates meeting at which Kader was elected. "His presentations to visiting Bosnian and Kosovar delegations on 'religion and the U.S. Constitution' have been especially well-received. In the summers of 2009 and 2010, he was a participant on the Melikian Center's Department of State citizen's exchange project involving religious and NGO leaders from predominantly Muslim regions of the Balkans. He is scheduled to be one of the seminar leaders in the summer 2010 U.S. Summer Institute for international scholars entitled, 'Religion, Ethnicity, and Indigeneity in American History.' "</p><separator></separator><p>Kader, recognized as an expert on religion and the U.S. Constitution, received his J.D. at the University of Washington, Seattle, and his LL.M. from the University of London, England. He joined the ASU faculty in 1979, following positions in the University of Iowa College of Law and a visiting lectureship in law at Warwick University Faculty of Laws, England. He was a visiting professor of law at Wuhan University School of Law in China in 2005.</p><separator></separator><p>His most recent publication, with Michael Stanford, who teaches at Barrett, The Honors College at ASU, is <em>Poetry of the Law: From Chaucer to the Present</em> (University of Iowa Press, 2010) an anthology of poems written about the law.<br /><br />Kader teaches in the areas of criminal procedure, torts, state constitutional law and religion and the Constitution.<br /><br /><span style="font-family: Tahoma; color: black; font-size: 9pt;" lang="EN">Janie Magruder, <a href="mailto:Jane.Magruder@asu.edu"><span style="color: #0000ff;">Jane.Magruder@asu.edu</span></a><br />(480) 727-9052<br />Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law</span></p>
