Joey DeMichele named Pac-10 Player of the Week, National Player of the Week
Sophomore Joey DeMichele has been named the Pac-10 Player of the Week, the conference announced today. DeMichele was also named a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball.
DeMichele helped lead Arizona State to a 3-1 week, including a series win over Stanford with his .467 (7-for-15) batting average. The Phoenix, Ariz., native slugged 1.067 in four games and became the first Sun Devil since Jeff Larish in the 2005 College World Series to homer three times in one game when he blasted three on Sunday to clinch the series over the Cardinal. He drove in five runs in the 7-1 win after driving in three with three hits in Friday's win.
This marks the first career Pac-10 Player of the Week honor for DeMichele and Arizona State's Conference-leading 99th all-time Player of the Week selection.
