Joey DeMichele named First Team All-American by ABCA

Sophomore designated hitter Joey DeMichele has earned First Team All-American honors by the American Baseball Coaches Association. DeMichele, who was also named a Third Team All-American by Baseball America, was also a First Team All-West Region selection.

DeMichele (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the Pac-10 with his .368 batting average and his .663 slugging percentage. He finished the year with a team-leading nine home runs and drove in 51 runs. He was named the Most Outstanding Player of the Tempe Regional thanks to his walk-off homer against New Mexico and had 12 RBI in ASU's six postseason games.

Shortstop Deven Marrero (Davie, Fla.), outfielder Johnny Ruettiger (Joliet, Ill.) and third baseman Riccio Torrez (Phoenix, Ariz.) all earned Second Team All-West Region honors.

The All-West Region teams are determined by a vote of coaches in the region, while the All-American team is voted on by coaches across the country.
