Human Resources launches technology training
A new employee development program is now available from the Office of Human Resources to all ASU employees. The new Technology Training Program will offer a means for departments to provide state-of-the-art technology training and technology-driven business training to their employees at significantly discounted prices.
The Learning and Performance Solutions Group of the office of Human Resources has teamed up with New Horizons Computer Learning Centers to offer a comprehensive catalog of online and instructor-led training classes to ASU employees. These classes will focus on computer software, technical and business skills, and can lead to various professional certifications in Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco, Help Desk, Information Security, Linux, Citrix, Novell and Project Management (PMP).
There are courses available through the program to suit the needs of all levels of employees, from basic desktop applications and business skills to high-level technical training. In addition to the 1,200 online courses available through this program, employees can select training from 108 instructor-led classes covering 73 major software applications from Microsoft, Adobe and Macromedia, as well as topics in Web design. (With the purchase of a classroom-delivered training class, each learner will also receive six months access to the same course online.)
The 1,200 online courses provide a selection of training titles that employees can access from home, work or while traveling. They are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“The skills that employees will learn through this program’s offerings will be critical to allowing departments to best leverage their existing resources,” says Joseph Miller, manager of the learning and performance solutions group. “This is especially important as departments strive to meet their goals in support of ASU’s New American University vision.”
All employees can begin taking online courses through this program immediately. For those seeking instructor-led classes, they will take place on the Tempe campus and at the New Horizons Computer Learning Center in Tempe during this month and August. Beginning in September, classes will also be scheduled at the West, Downtown Phoenix and Polytechnic campuses.
