Houlihan earns All-America Honors at NCAA Championships

Sophomore Shelby Houlihan wrapped up the 2012 cross country season for Arizona State University, earning the first All-America honors of her career with a 31st-place finish at the NCAA Championships in Louisville, Ky.

Houlihan clocked a time of 20:11.4 over the 6,000-meter course at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park.  With the finish, Houlihan became the first Sun Devil All-American since Kari Hardt finished 39th at the 2008 NCAA Championships. Houlihan became the 10th Sun Devil to earn All-America honors since 1998.

Houlihan was the lone Sun Devil represented at this year’s championships competition following her exception run at the NCAA West Regional Championships last weekend.  She finished eighth amongst individuals not competing in the team competition.

The Sun Devils now turn their attention the 2013 track and field season, set to begin in January.
